Best of all, it's a gift that they will treasure and remember for years to come. So, let's get started!

Equipment

  • Champagne bottle
  • Painters Tape
  • Testor's Craft Acrylic paints in black and white
  • Paintbrushes
  • Mod Podge to seal if desired
  • Optional pool noodle
  • Optional florals
  • Optional bow

Instructions

  • Start by taping off the front and back lables as well as the neck of the champagne bottle with painter's tape.
  • Using a paintbrush, apply a thin, even coat of white acrylic paint to the entire glass portion of the bottle. This will take several coats. Be sure to dry thoroughly in between coats.
  • Once the white paint is completely dry, use painter's tape to create a buffalo plaid pattern. Start by penciling on vertical stripes, then go back and add horizontal stripes to create a grid pattern.
  • Using an artist paintbrush, apply black acrylic paint to every other open space of the grid.
  • Once the black paint is completely dry, blend with a touch of black and white on opposite squares for a hand-painted, distressed look.
  • Carefully remove the painter's tape to reveal a beautiful buffalo plaid pattern.
  • To protect the paint, you can add a layer of mod podge to seal it.
  • Optionally, you can cut a pool noodle the length of the neck of the bottle and tuck florals into it and add it to the top!
  • Optionally, you can also add a bow around the neck of the bottle for a festive touch.
