Start by taping off the front and back lables as well as the neck of the champagne bottle with painter's tape.
Using a paintbrush, apply a thin, even coat of white acrylic paint to the entire glass portion of the bottle. This will take several coats. Be sure to dry thoroughly in between coats.
Once the white paint is completely dry, use painter's tape to create a buffalo plaid pattern. Start by penciling on vertical stripes, then go back and add horizontal stripes to create a grid pattern.
Using an artist paintbrush, apply black acrylic paint to every other open space of the grid.
Once the black paint is completely dry, blend with a touch of black and white on opposite squares for a hand-painted, distressed look.
Carefully remove the painter's tape to reveal a beautiful buffalo plaid pattern.
To protect the paint, you can add a layer of mod podge to seal it.
Optionally, you can cut a pool noodle the length of the neck of the bottle and tuck florals into it and add it to the top!
Optionally, you can also add a bow around the neck of the bottle for a festive touch.
