Vintage Bottle Brush Tree Display (with Shiny Brite Ornaments)
Everyone loves vintage items, especially during the holiday season. This year make your own vintage bottle brush tree display to show off all of your favorite vintage ornaments! Bottle brush tree decor is a lot easier to make than it looks and only requires a few simple supplies that you probably already have lying around. You can use any bottle brush trees you want, but I found mine at the dollar tree and a thrift store for just $2 a bag! Follow these steps below to find out how easy it is to create this beautiful decoration.
Be sure to PIN this one for later!
supplies you’ll need to make a bottle brush tree display are here in my amazon shop
- hot glue gun
- wire cutters
- bottle brush trees (Dollar Tree has some)
- ornaments (I used vintage shiny brites from an antique store)
- wooden spools
- lace trim (optional)
- dollar tree pizza pan
- dollar tree buffalo check fabric
first…
Take the wooden spool and add hot glue around the top edge to adhere the lace trim for an added vintage effect.
Then remove a bottle brush tree from it’s base using the wire cutters if needed.
Apply a generous amount of hot glue to the top of the wooden spool and insert the base of the bottle brush tree.
Repeat until all wooden spools have a bottle brush tree on top.
Next…
Remove the hanger portion of the ornament from the top.
Using hot glue attach the circular part of the hanger that was removed from the top, to the base of the ornament as shown.
Then hot glue a bottle brush tree onto the top of the ornament and let dry.
adding the glass cloche to the display
Take a Dollar Tree Pizza pan and cover it with fabric of your choice. I chose buffalo check fabric, of course!
Alternatively, you can paint a buffalo check pattern as shown in this tutorial. How to Paint Buffalo Check (on a Dollar Tree Pizza Pan)
I’m obsessed with buffalo check as you can see from these projects below.

- Christmas Lantern & Santa Mailbox Thrift Flips
- DIY Drop Cloth Christmas Tree Skirt (Easy No Sew)
LASTLY…
Arrange the bottle brush tree ornaments and spools onto the base in any arrangment. Tack down each piece with a dot of hot glue to help keep them in place. I chose to sprinkle a little faux snow from Dollar Tree that I had left over from this project.
That’s it! It’s literally so simple to make this diy display for bottle brush trees and vintage ornaments.
Aren’t the little wooden spool trees so precious? I love that you can get a wide assortment of colors going with just the different threads on the spools. If you’re spools come unthreaded, glue a bit of ribbon or fabric around the body of the spool instead!
Even though any ornaments will work for this display, I especially love the details of these vintage ornaments. They’re chippy and bright and make this display really pop!
MIX AND MATCH BOTTLE BRUSH TREES WITH ORNAMENTS
Have fun with this project. Try mixing and matching the different colored bottle brush trees with a variety of vintage ornaments. My display ended up in mostly turquoise blues, pale pinks and hot pinks, magenta and a few pops of bright yellow.
I hope you’ll make one of these bottle brush tree displays for yourself! I couldn’t be happier with the way mine turned out and how simple it was to put together. It was also super fun to go “hunting” for the supplies while I was on one of my Southern Crush On the Road trips!
