Get creative with mix-ins to make your cookies stand out. You can try adding some Andes mints to your chocolate cake mix or broken candy cane to a vanilla cake mix. Also, consider adding in white chocolate chips, shredded coconut or nuts to enhance the flavor and add some texture to the cookies. The possibilities are endless, so think outside the box and create something uniquely delicious.
Shape the Cookies into Festive Christmas Shapes
To make your cookies look like they belong in the holiday season, get festive with your cookie cutters. You can use shapes such as stars, Christmas trees, snowflakes, and bells, to match the occasion. Tip: Grease the cookie cutter before you start cutting out the cookies to avoid the dough from sticking.

Hi Melanie,
Thank you for this recipe! I needed something simple to add to my cookies and pastries I made this year to fill up the trays for my neighbors. I used what I had on hand with your recipe. I made Devil’s Food cake and I put chopped pecan’s on top. I wish I could send you a photo. They looked good! They taste very good! 🙂 I’m planning to make this again when I visit my daughter’s family and make it with my granbabies, 3 and 1 yr olds. I got baby shark sprinkles and dinosaurs because that’s what they like. I’m looking forward to making cookies with my grangirl’s. 🙂
Thank you,
Kathy B
