This project is quick, easy, and perfect for adding a pop of spooky to your Halloween decorations and is perfect for doing with kids.
What You’ll Need for Mommy and Me DIY Ghost Decor:
- Ghost buckets from Dollar General in small and large sizes (or create your own with white trash buckets from the Dollar store and black stickers or paint)
- Faux black eucalyptus (from Michaels)
- Faux black roses (from Michaels)
- Pink faux plumes (from Michaels)
- A “boo” sign (optional)
- Floral foam or stuffing material (optional, for securing the flowers)
- Hot glue gun (optional, for added stability)
Step 1: Prepare Your Ghost Buckets
Start by picking up a large (mommy) and small (me) ghost buckets from Dollar General. These buckets are adorable on their own, but with a few added touches, they’ll become the perfect Halloween statement piece.
Make sure the buckets are clean and free of any stickers or tags.
Step 2: Arrange the Faux Florals
Next, gather your faux florals. I used black eucalyptus and black roses from Michaels for a dark, spooky vibe, paired with pink plumes for a soft, unexpected pop of color.
Start by arranging the black eucalyptus, spreading them out evenly to create a full, balanced look.
For the smaller bucket I bent the stems upward before tucking them inside the bucket.
Add in the pink plumes to bring in a bit of color and contrast.
The combination of dark and light elements gives the arrangement a stylish, modern twist.
Lastly, pull the petals of each black rose a little bit apart to stretch them or flatten them a bit before adding them to the front of each bucket like a crown for each ghost.
Step 3: Add the “Boo” Sign
To complete the look, I added a cute “boo” sign. This adds a playful touch to the arrangement and ties the whole display together.
Step 4: Display Your Mommy and Me DIY Ghost Buckets
Your Mommy and Me Dollar General Ghost Buckets DIY is now complete!
Place the buckets on a mantel, console table, or as a centerpiece on your dining table to add a festive, spooky touch to your Halloween decor.
Variations:
- Mix and Match: Feel free to experiment with different faux florals or color combinations to match your Halloween theme.
- Add Lights: Consider adding a small string of battery-operated fairy lights inside the bucket for a glowing effect.
- Personalize It: Customize the ghost buckets with additional decorations, such as mini pumpkins, spiders, or ribbon, to make them your own. You can also add kid’s names directly on the buckets with sharpies.
This Mommy and Me Dollar General Ghost Buckets DIY is a quick and easy way to elevate your Halloween decor without breaking the bank.
