If you’ve aren’t quite sure what the difference is between a crockpot and a slow cooker, they are one in the same. Crockpot is the brand name of a slow cooker.
Patented way back in 1940, the crockpot has always been one of my favorite kitchen gadgets. It just makes dinner time a little easier.

- 1 ranch seasoning mix
- 1 cup of chicken broth or water
How To Make Chicken and Gravy with Mashed Potatoes
Feel free to modify the recipe to suit your taste preferences, add some spice, or change up the type of soup. You can also double the recipe if you are expecting a big crowd or prep this meal during your weekly meal prep and then reheat it when you want to serve it. Simmer for 4 or 6 hours, the choice is yours depending on how much time you have. Leftovers keep for 3-4 days in an airtight container in the fridge or you can store them in the freezer for 3 months.
- Start by placing your chicken breasts in the bottom of the Crock-Pot.
- Top with ranch seasoning, cream of chicken soup and either chicken broth or water.
- Allow to slow cook on LOW for 4-6 hours or HIGH for 2-3 hours.
- Once the chicken has cooked through and is fork tender, use a stand mixer, hand mixer or two forks to shred the chicken apart.
- Mix the ingredients together thoroughly, trust me on this!
- Serve over mashed potatoes and enjoy!

Tips and Tricks
- If you can’t find cream of chicken soup try cream of mushroom or celery.
- Use a low sodium chicken broth if you decide to use broth. This way you can control the amount of salt the recipe has.
- Season the chicken with salt and pepper before you place it in the slow cooker to bring out the flavor.
- If your gravy turns out a little too watery, make a slurry with cornstarch and water and mix it in.
