Variations of This Cake
- Change up the cake and use a cake mix or one of your favorite cake recipes.
- Use cashew or pecans instead of pistachios and hazelnuts.
- Change up the shape and bake the cake in a square pan or turn it into a layer cake and bake the batter in 2 8″ round pans.
- For a richer frosting mix the pudding mix with Cool Whip, whipping cream or cream cheese.
Tips and Tricks
- Toast the pistachios and hazelnuts for a more robust flavor.
- For a deeper green color add a few drops of green food coloring to either the cake or the frosting.
- Let the cake cool completely before removing it from the pan.
- If you have a tube pan on hand feel free to use that instead of a Bundt pan. You’ll still get the round shape and the baking time will be about the same.
- Pick up shelled pistachios and make your life a bit easier.
FAQs
What makes a Bundt cake different from a regular cake?
The key difference between a Bundt cake and a regular cake is its shape. A Bundt is a type of round cake pan that bakes cakes in its unique shape.
Can you use a regular cake pan instead of a Bundt pan?
You can use a regular cake pan to bake your cake if you don’t have a Bundt pan but the baking time may differ. If your pan is shorter the bake time will be less so test for doneness 10 minutes earlier.
Do Bundt pans need to be greased?
It will be much easier to remove the cake from the pan if it is greased.
